This topic is to explain some things to watch out for concerning ingame trades. First off, to people new to the concept:
What's an ingame trade?
An ingame trade is a trade done while logged into a game without supervision/not making a written deal. We suggest to not do these types of trades unless you're extremely impatient.
So I just drop whatever I'm gonna trade?
No, there's a way to trade via the Item Pack. It's called Trade Window. The options are self-explanatory, just remember to use Verify Items to see if what you're getting is what you agreed to and if the items are legit. Also do not try to trade for meseta using the Trade Window, the meseta will be lost once you leave. It's just a glitch in the game, so meseta - PD trades should just be drop-traded.
What's an alternative?
An alternative to ingame trading is forum trading. Forum trading is done either here (not much will happen though) or on the actual server's forums: Schthack Trade Forum
Remember to follow the rules there as well, no exceptions. This is suggested as the GMs and Administrators patrol these forums and are there to make sure people aren't receiving cheated items.
People cheat ingame and trade off hacked items?
People may tell you "who cares?" but the fact is yes people still cheat here and trade off cheated items. Why you should care? The GMs and Administrators show no mercy concerning these types of things. Would you really want to trade an item you worked really hard to get for something that was cheated in about five minutes to have it confiscated by a GM, leaving you with nothing?
What do I need to look out for when trading ingame or on the forum?
On the server forum trade section, there is a topic with blacklisted items (items that cannot be traded at all). Ingame, stay away from these rooms. If you see a room called or similarly called "S>PhotonSphere" or any blacklisted item and you feel like doing the server a favor, enter and make the person talk, thus revealing his or her guild card number in your chatlogs (located in the PSO directory, the folder called "logs"). Report it with a snapshot of the room on the game menu to Lee on the Schthack forums. If your forum account needs approval still, message me the report through our forums and I'll send it on your behalf.
Another thing to look out for are obscene Photon %s on weapons. The Photon Efficiency %s can be viewed when you look at your weapon and hit the right arrow key. Sphered weapons (weapons boosted with Photon Spheres, which is explained on the server forums FAQ on the process of how to do it). Generally, any %s above 50% are considered sphered (the player using Photon Drops or Photon Sphere to increase it) so STAY AWAY from it. You can't report the person however as they might not know it may be cheated, so either let them know that they should get the item checked out by a GM or simply leave.
Sometimes ingame you may come across a really sweet deal and you feel you can't pass it up...
"If it's too good to be true, it most likely IS too good to be true"
PSO has its own economy that is managed by the public itself, so value of items tends to change when changes are made or if events are done that include those items, so a way of estimating price (in Photon Drops) is needed. This is a good start for new people to know the value of some items. Also refer to LKA's list of items that are considered worth only 1 PD in my "1 PD Items" topic.
Refer to this guide to help you get an idea of how much your desired item is worth: PSO Wikipedia Price Guide
If someone ingame is selling a very high value item (like say a Psycho Wand) for a significantly low value, or even just for a low amount of PDs, stay away! It's most likely a duplicated (clone of an existing Psycho Wand with the same %s) or cheated (obtained by modifying the game to give it instantly).
What does B> and S> mean ingame? And what's, PC>, WTB>, PDA>, and A> mean?
Those are trade topic tags for people to know what's the purpose of it.
B> means Buying, so when you see this and the name of an item, it means the person's wanting to buy it.
S> means Selling. PC> means Price Check, WTB> means Willing To Buy, PDA> means Photon Drop Auction (an auction where you only bid PDs) and A> means Auction.
Are items in red text hacked?
Not necessarily, these are S-Rank weapons obtained from Challenge Mode by getting S-Rank and it can have a name of your choosing as long as it's 8 characters long. However what you should know about them is no S-Rank has symbols in the custom name and to be mindful of S-Ranks that have no name at all, for example " SWORD". Report these to a GM immediately. Also S-Ranks cannot have %s so all their % areas will be 0. If you see S-Ranks that have %s, report them immediately.
Where should I start?
Before you even begin to trade, ask the team first if they have the item you want and willing to trade. You'll get some experience with sales and a discount most likely depending on who you ask. Try to limit your ingame trading for miniscule items and only look for the big value items like high hit rare weapons or even stuff like Sealed J Sword and Psycho Wand on the forums. Once again if the forum impedes your account from being approved and someone has something you want, you may message me and I'll talk to them on your behalf. You must however give me your Guild Card # before I can make a deal with the person. A Team tradelist is in the works for those who can't get a forum account yet so it also needs your Guild Card # as the rules of the server forum state.
What about items that need to have a certain number of kills to be made into something else? Do people hack these too?
Yes they do, here are the items that need to have a certain number of enemies killed while equipped to be made into their stronger forms:
Lame D'Argent =(10,000 kills)> Excalibur
Sealed J Sword =(23,000)> Tsumikiri J Sword
Limiter =(20,000)> Adept
Swordsman Lore =(20,000)> Proof of Sword-Saint
This tool should be with you: Leebo's Kill Reader
What this does is reads your item's kill counts, if you have a kill count item it'll show how many kills are on it. It'll also tell you how many materials you've used on the on-screen character. Another tool on the BB section of the Schthack forums shows the kill count on items in the inventory of people with you. If the kill counts are below the ones above, they're hacked. Tsumikiri J Sword is sort of an exception. During the Christmas event, TJS was droppable the way it is without SJS as the first form. On kill reader, an Xmas TJS will read either 0 OR 255 (not in between).
