Me and Eph got into a debate about FTD.Part of his argument for FTD is that the resists are good on it.
We were arguing that a FTD would be better suited for a RA than another, cheaper shield.
I was saying,a ranger doesn't need FTD,he has ranger wall which is much more useful. He agreed and brought up stat maxing.
He then went on to say better defense, evp, resists, etc.
I said flat out.Resists aren't even super important. The only time you really see resists come into play are at bosses, notably Falz and his grants.
He mentioned battle mode..how many of you actually play battle mode more than you play normal games..?How many of you play battle mode at all?
Me and Ten talked about this awhile ago with three seals and we pretty much agreed the resists weren't all really that important. He also said there are better shields resist wise.
Anyways do you really think resists are that important?I obviously say no because you hardly EVER need them.
He thinks he is so right, but you can't possibly be right with an opinion.
*edit*
So it seems everyone is saying the same thing im saying...Half the time you don't even fight spell casting monsters...Resists aren't used unless there is a situation where resists come in handy...ruins with those sorcerers...falz..etc.

Resists are convenient, but not a necessity unless you want to be assured you're not a liability for your party, on Dreamcast they didn't do much but on BB I see that sometimes resists can be an advantage or a disadvantage:
Advantageous because you take less damage from the element you're struck with, Disadvantageous because I've noticed with higher resists you don't get knocked down from techs all that much, sometimes you need to get knocked down to get some breathing room.
But really, it depends on opinion and playstyle.

If I know I'm going to be fighting Falz, I've found that 4 Resist/Saints can take away the OHKO factor on the third form's Grants, but then again, that was only on Hard....
