whenever i'm on PSO i always touch upon this subject in TC at some point. basically i'm considering making a new chara. opinions on the schtack forums regarding my chara are low. people citing that i'm missing a big proportion of the game because i'm a Humar Pinkal. my questions are this... is it really that bad? if i dedicate time and effort to my current chara am i like wasting my time? what is there to look forward to in future levels? am i thinking too much about this? appreciate your efforts and opinions guys!!

In my own opinion, Section ID isn't that big of a deal.
But perhaps you should make a new HUmar or other type of character with a different ID, as Pinkal doesn't get much out of the drop tables. I would say make a difficult non-force with the Pinkal ID for a challenge once you get accustomed to the game.
Being HUmar itself is actually very basic, he has no strengths or weaknesses that stand out, it's just most of the people who play HUmar don't know that so they either try to Charge Vulcan everything or attack head on (essentially, HUmar is a semi-tank so he's supposed to GUARD the other characters like HUcast but with more flexibility, could say he can guard the Forces in the team and not run off on his own)

Take note that you do have the strength to fight head on, but it's pretty much how I play as Tenshu at times (who's a bit of all three classes) fight enemies but be mindful of your weaker allies and do your best to keep them alive by either guarding them or distracting the enemy away from them. This is pretty much the basics of the male hunters, female hunters seem to be the one to cause a diversion while getting in hits with fast weapons.

The only time I really really care about my section ID is when I use to play offline and had no access to online and when I want to hunt an item my ID doesn't have.Other than that ID isn't really a big big deal.
Pinkal as ten pointed out, doesn't get much of anything from decent with the drops. That would be a big problem if you were offline and you were like a humar. But your online so you can always trade some stuff. Also pinkal isn't a total waste if you really care about drops. It does get some stuff like a v801 that alot of forces want.
Anyways no your not wasting your time with your character, unless you really don't like being a hunter.
I'm with ten on one thing.Alot of hunters just whip out some vulcans and start attacking without regards to the other weaker players. For example, when i'm playing with ten and im using a lower level,he will usually act as the shield so that way the lower players won't be in serious danger.
Most HU's and people in general online, don't really play their role. The HU's are suppose to be on the front line, not hiding with the rangers in the corner shooting a vulcan. The only time i use vulcan's on my hucast is when i'm to weak to fight the monsters head on,or I have no saber.
This is a rant but lol.I just feel HU's should be on the front lines.Rangers should do their best to try to keep some of the monsters off of those hu's.The forces should take care of support first before dishing out any real damage.
If your going to be a force games, take care of your primary duty.Support first, attack later. That's how I see it.Jellen/Zalure the enemies,do Shifta/Deband if needed, then attack if you want.Make sure your team mates hp doesn't drop to low.Sometimes they may have possibly half an energy bar full and a critical can desotry them.So keep that in mind. You don't have to heal every little scratch but yeah.

for me its about understanding what my role is.
i've never really understood my charas role ever since my ep.1 dreamcast days. i just was always anxious to level and also 'be the biggest, hardest, best' etcetc...
reading what ten and ron have to say about it i now understand what my purpose is. i must admit i was extremely aimless doing ttf's. i was like holding back, not attacking, attacking too much, healing when i was been healed...... lol. never paid much attention to my actions.
reading up about dark falz etiquette recently i started cringing because i was the hammer head that would just attack attack attack........ how come i need a squllion moons?? lol.......
dudes its means a lot because this is the direction i need. i was like ronin before. now i have a direction to follow.
this team ethos is introducing new angles to my gameplay. never considered the social/interpersonal impact of my chara and even my play style. pretty amazing stuff..............
now i know why they say............ PSO DRAMA!!
many thanks dudes!!

No problem.
If your going to continue you HUmar, just make sure your playing your role in the party.Be generous to the other players and try to save their asses if you must.
I get pretty pissed as a ranger, when i'm with multiple rangers in a game and i'm still getting hit from behind.
I just feel everyone's to busy focusing on 1 target when there are multiple targets around.
I try to neutralize all the targets I possibly can with my SQ,then I attack the ones sneaking up on the HU's or FO's.I'm not successful every time, but I try. When I play my role, I find we breeze through stuff alot easier.
A party works exactly like a team in lets say..a fast food restaurant. When everyone does what they are suppose to do,things work fine. If you have a few people doing something they shouldn't be doing, things can get thrown off a little.
Just my outlook on it.

Yup
Edit: Lol just kidding, but yes it's important to get accustomed to your role on PSO, but don't be one-dimensional:
Learn to be more than one class, and also try to work around liabilities of your own class. Such as HUmar not being able to Shifta and Deband. Yes a Force can solve this problem, but think about if you're alone and J/Z isn't enough, if you want an added boost, go for an S-Red's Blades on Ultimate, it has a built-in S/D for when you solo. Also don't be limited to blades, you can use handguns for a reason, keep it as a sidearm and play Ranger for a few seconds against potentially dangerous enemies (Ob Lily, Del Lily, Mericarol, etc.) Mechguns won't keep you out of harm's way from these guys because of their short reach and slow recovery time.
As some people on the team and server community could see, I condition Tenshu to be sort of all three classes. I can guard and protect teammates decently as a Hunter would, I can keep myself out of harm's way usually as a Ranger would, and I'm as alert as a Force would be when supporting and healing, I can dish out good damage, but once I see you get hit I drop what I'm doing to heal you and usually fight what you got hit from with you.
