Wow, a violent Capcom game that actually adds things that DON'T make it seem Resident Evil-like *claps* XD.
Download Link - DINO CRISIS 2
Taking place after the events of the first Dino Crisis, the main protagonist Regina is on another mission towards a facility close to Edward City where the whole island was transported back to the age of the dinosaurs. Her mission: rescue any survivors.
The game plays similar to Dino Crisis and the past Resident Evil games, but you can also say Dino Crisis 2 was a predecessor of Resident Evil 4, in that it departed from the survival-horror theme to a more action-oriented game. There aren't any challenging puzzles this time around and you instead buy ammo as well as recovery items using Extinction Points. You also have two playable characters, where the new main character is a man named Dylan Morton, armed with a Shotgun and Machete.
Extinction Points are gained by defeating dinosaurs, however those who've played RE4's The Mercenaries may also notice a similarity here. Your points can get a little increase if you continue killing dinosaurs, in which a Combo meter will appear telling you how many dinosaurs you've killed in a row without getting hit or without the combo timer running out. Another way to raise Extinction Points is to Counter enemies. As the word implies, you'd attack dinosaurs when they're just about to attack you and it will count as a Counter move.
Aside from that, you also have the ability to buy weapons with your Extinction Points and the only way to reload your weapon is to buy ammo or recharge it. You never run out of ammo in a single weapon pretty much. If you have 1000 Shotgun shells, you'll never reload, instead you'd be able to shoot until you've used up your 1000, then you'd have to find a computer terminal to recharge your weapon. Sub-Weapons are also available which can come in handy early on and later.
New dinosaurs are added as well, some don't even exist in history, just concoctions of Capcom's staff. You have your basic enemies, the Velociraptors, to the Allosaurus, Pteranadons, Triceratops, etc.
Weapons have become a bit more futuristic such as the Solid Cannon, but you also have present-time weapons like a Heavy Machinegun, Anti-Tank Rifle, etc.
Sound, the music is more fast-paced which suits the game's speed. It looks great graphically, the dinosaurs are well modeled and look a bit better than they did in the first Dino Crisis
Fun game, yes. Try it, yes.
My final rating for Dino Crisis 2 is a 7/10
