Yes I'm jumping on the retro ranking bandwagon XD.
Post up your top five Genesis games and a little bit of why. Titles that were released for the 32X and Sega CD are also included.
1. Streets of Rage 2 - I grew up on this game, playing it for hours and hours and never tiring of it and always as my favorite character Axel. Great music, great graphics, great times.
2. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 - Another of my first Sega Genesis games, to this day I still casually play this sucker to beat my best time. Takes advantage of the Genesis's speed that was one of its pros against the SNES. Another game with great music (Chemical Plant Zone)
3. Snatcher - One of the greatest games of all time in my opinion. Boasting superb voice acting for its time, eerie story, and clear visual, Snatcher's only downfall was it was released during the Sega CD's slow demise. You can also find this game on the forum hehe.
4. Lunar: Eternal Blue - A classic RPG and a splendid one for the Sega CD. I think this particular game pushed the add on to its limits as the game is made up of voice acting and well done anime cutscenes. The Battle system is easy to pick up, the spell system is a little unique compared to the later Complete version of the game for the PSX and Sega Saturn.
5. Popful Mail - A humorous platformer with RPG-like details. It looks a little like Zelda mixed with Slayer. The voice acting is top notch and funny at times with the injokes and poking at pop culture icons of the time. The game is on the difficult side and you can control the titular character, a mage, and a tiny creature that can equip individual attacks like a claw swipe or fire breath.
